On facebook and home-schooled?

Hello,
I had once posted before about a home-schooled friend that wanted to get a facebook account. I found out, and later told him, that facebook has no option for home-schoolers!
He still just listed himself as a student of the local high-school and got an account. Everything was fine, or at least thats what he told me, until he started to receive warnings that he needed conformation that he was a student at the high-school. He has friends at the high-school that would gladly confirm him as a student but I don't think thats right. Is there any possible way he could keep his account and not have to be associated with a network?
He is going to be 18 next year and I told him to wait until then but he just wont listen. I have got him to agree to wait till I receive a reply to this post before he has his friends confirm him as a student.

Jim bob, I don't represent Facebook in any way, so I can only say that, personally, I think it's fine for him to be a part of his friends' high school network, since the point of this confirmation rule is - nominally, anyway - to have real friends authenticate somebody. By some measure, it keeps creeps and strangers from joining a network. He can join his geographical network, of course - say, San Francisco Bay Area or greater Atlanta or something - but why not just be part of his own friends' network with their support? It's a great way to get past the one thing that homeschooled students and their homeschooling parents always hear from detractors - that they miss the social benefits of being part of a school community (I don't think that's necessarily true, it's totally individual, but I know it's a common perception). That's just one person's opinion, of course. All best,
Anne
