Are there any checks on who may be advertizing or monitoring these blog sites? If these sites are vulnerable to the alchohol, tobacco or any trade group that wants to solicit or sell to a younger population, or "mine" for marketing info that may make our job as an influential part of our kids upbringing, that could be a problem.

Hi defining a site blogs spamming as it relates only to unwanted commercial email this is a open forum that is not a email recipient but invites any one to come and respond open a thread or talk about any subject related to the forum so please define the meaning correctly spam only subject to the sending of emails not forums or blogs if it did they would all shut down. you would be spamming if you started to send members of this room a message directly or uninvited but as this forum invites you to speak your mined about the safety of kids Online or any thing that would help kids to keep them safe stopping a system to help kids being safe would be itself unsafe policy.advertising alchohol, tobacco etc yes that should be removed but removing ads that can help to protect kids that could help a child online saftey would be against the principle of this forum making kids unsafe not safe that is a bad policy. but yes remove ads that are not related but do not help safety remove them. myspace gets lots of comments in here and your old forum but is clearly unsafe to be used by kids.

I haven’t noticed any alcohol or tobacco ads on any of these sites though I have seen some that are pretty sexually provocative. I know MySpace has changed its advertising policy to tone down ads for kids who are under 16 but I’m not sure if it has kicked in yet. Larry Codirector BlogSafety.com
