I'm an elementary school principal. My sixth grade teacher would like to have her Language Arts students use a blog. Any recommendations? Live Journal seems to be too wide open for elementary school kids.
All help is appreciated!

I am a Fifth grade teacher and have had my students using a blog for about 2 weeks now. They are very excited about letting others read their comments. I use www.tappedin.org, it requires the teacher to setup an account and create usernames and passwords for the students. This allows only invited members to see and post comments to your blog. I gave the other teachers in my building a guest login so they could visit and post comments. The kids loved seeing other teachers post comments on their subject. Hope this helped. Happy surfing.

She sounds like a great teacher! Two safe-blogging services that have come to our attention which target the middle-school education market are ePals (here's their classroom blogging page) and Imbee.com (here's their teacher page). The former has been in the education space a number of years. Hope this helps,
Anne
