The marital status item is a problem, because the only available options are "Single" (the default), "Married", "Divorced", "In a Relationship", and "Swinger" (if you're 18 or older).
There is no way to eliminate "marital status" from your MySpace profile. It's probably possible to make the information no longer visible on your MySpace profile page using a script insert. But even if you do this, your marital status selection will still exist in the database, so you'll still turn up in search results that specify the marital status choice you've selected.
In our book we advised teens to select either "Married" or "In a Relationship" as their marital status. These selections will at least keep them out of search results where the person specifically searches for someone using the "Single," "Divorced," or "Swinger" marital status selections.
An improvement to MySpace would be the addition of "No Answer" as an option for "Marital Status".

Good question. I looked around some of the MySpace "hack" sites and couldn't find an answer for you. I'll see if our contacts at MySpace have an answer or, perhaps, someone else here will.
