I hope this is allowed. The last thing I want to do is piss off you guys off. Anyway, I just put up a quick tutorial for parents to use of they need help navigating myspace or searching their child's computer for pornography. It's free and clearly not professionaly written, but I hope it will help some parents protect their kids. If you go to the site, don't click the ads unless you want to. I just wanted to warn you all now, there are ads on the site that I can't disable because they are hard scripted into my friend's template and I can't touch them or it will botch up his other sites. http://interspies.com/blogs/webpi/ Up at the top click on investigate my child. It's pretty fundamental stuff, but for parents that don't know much about the internet or how to search a hard drive... it could help. Anyway, Ive been on this site a few times and it's loaded with great info. I hope my blog can help nearly as many people as a site like this can. Thanks and God Bless

Interspies, I guess by tutorial you mean the article, "Investigate Your Child"? I hope you don't mind if I say that the title alone is a little chilling to me, suggesting an approach that I think would in most cases have a chilling effect on parent-child communication and trust. Keeping in close communication with our kids so we know what they're up to online and offline and letting them know our concerns are essential, but secretly spying on them ("spying" is a word all over the site) can lead to the kind of confrontation that breaks down communication and sends kids into stealth mode at a time when that's extremely easy. There are a lot of places beyond the home where they can access the Net, a lot of kinds of devices with which they can access it, and a lot of sites where they can establish free accounts without our knowledge. Hope this is helpful. All best,
Anne

Eeek! Sounds like a plan. Thank you for the heads up. I didn't even think about copyright. I've seen so many other sites do it and just stick a link there that it didn't even cross my mind, but you're probably right. Best to err on the side of caution. Thanks for taking the time to look and respond.

I went to your site and there is some good information but it appears to me that you may be violating the copyright law by reposting without permission. If you are going to do this, you should provide a brief summary in your own words and a link to the original article. A good role model for this is Anne Collier's NetFamilyNews.org site. Of course, Anne spends an enormous amount of time not only finding relevant articles but putting them into context which adds a great deal of value. -- Larry Co-director BlogSafety.com
