My 14yr old son has been "groomed" for last 6 months by a 16yr( I think He is that age) old with whom he blogs has "fell in Love' Just found out by reading his MSN IM Are'nt they suppose to monitor this- I am really worried- havnt told son that I know yet- he has talked on line about running away with him , or will "Die" if he is seperated. This person has introduced him to gay porn and they talk very explicitly about what sex they will have when they meet-"hopefully this school summer vacation" I want to cut off the contact, but need to be sensitive and time it right because I dont know if they have exchanged address details and am scared he may run away _ I have a good counselor set up in 2 weeks, when we will tell him that we know about his blog, and am checking his blog in the meantime, but am scared he will find out and I will lose his trust- he is very vunerable and dependent on this person who threatens top commit suicide if he breaks contact- or he may escalate and try to get him to meet him now,as I think he may know we have accessed the conversation log? what else can i do????

cal, this does sound like a delicate situation, and you're smart to reach out before the counselor can meet with you all. I can't think of better people to call than the experts at the Child Exploitation Unit of NCMEC. They run the CyberTipline.com, which will get you advice equally fast through the Web link or by calling 1.800.843.5678. They're not law enforcement people themselves, but rather experts in dealing with situations like this who have law enforcement contacts nationwide. You're right in wondering if the person doing this stalking is actually a minor, and they can help work through questions like that. I hope this helps.
