While I understand the need for teens to connect with other teens, I do not agree with the profiles that I have seen on the MYSPACE website. Too many teens are showing their bodies in a way that will only invite trouble. My daughter has a profile and while hers is mild compared to others, I feel it is still dangerous to have the profile. MYSPACE claims they are trying to cut down on the amount of inappropriate material, but is this really working if teens are persisting in taking pictures of themself in front of a mirror? The opportunity to have the profile has also caused a major distraction in her school studies. She is defiant about removing the profile. Because she is 18 now, I can not remove it myself. I feel parents need to be informed and supported. MAAD did it with alerting others about drunk drivers, NOW did it with the fight for womens rights, what can we do as parents? I feel very frustrated as a parent.

Hi, I think it would console you a bit to know that something is being done about this issue. Kindly read a very interesting article here http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/01/05/AR2009010502588.html Of course this is just the start but with more support from parents and groups devoted to child/teen online safety I'm sure more can be done. -- "Mother is God in the eyes of a child."
