Staying compliant with moderators for kids community

Hi all, I did a search to see if my question had been answered or not already. I do see many questions from people with the same interest, but not the same question.

I am with a small online curriculum provider. We provide curriculum to students prek- 8th grades. We have created a community for our students 4th grade and up. We want to be sure we are compliant with any safety rules that apply to having adults moderating children. These moderators will be parents of our young members but if we need to background check or complete any other steps in order to be sure the kids are in a safe environment, we want to do that.

What are the rules, if any for providing adult moderation for a kid's community?

Any ideas, knowledge or sites providing information would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Kris

Thanks Anne,

I have found the same thing while searching online. Nothing ;)

COPPA says nothing about it, which I find interesting.

I'll keep checking back here though to see if anyone has any further wisdom for me.

Thanks again,

Kris

Just_Kris, thank you for posting. I hope others post about this here (I have seen a few threads in the past year by at least one creator of small youth communities), but I haven't seen any rules out there on the Web. Usually companies keep these pretty proprietary, is my guess. Anyway, good to have you with this, and I hope you get some responses.
