Facebook crawls private messages

This shocked me. Then again; now that I think about it, it doesn't. Thought this was interesting enough to share.

I sent a link inside of a private message to a friend on facebook as an experiment. The link was not sent out to anyone else and was never indexed online anywhere. 2 minutes after the message was sent, it gets crawled by a facebook spiderbot. Guess we have no privacy in private messages either.

13:03, link created and message sent to friend via private message.
13:05, facebook crawls the link with fragmented headers. No user-agent provided to my webserver for the request, RFC non compliant crawl that ignored my robots.txt file.

If you or someone you care about is struggling with an addiction, Transformations Treatment Center offers four different addiction rehabilitation programs proven to successfully transform an individual from a life controlled by addiction to a clean, sober, and recovered life. We have found that offering a variety of treatment options gives individuals the opportunity to explore what is most personally effective.

Our highly trained clinicians and support staff take pride in providing the optimal treatment environment in which each person receives weekly individual and group counseling sessions. Those in treatment enjoy a private room with a comfortable queen size bed, which allows them to experience a real life therapeutic setting. Explore our four all-inclusive programs and the many additional therapeutic features that are unique to our facility.

Everyone, be very careful of using Facebook and other social networking sites! Refrain from posting personal informations, and don't think that all the apps and games in these sites are not risk free!:O

For all internet users, I would like all of you to check this out: Julian Assange calls Facebook the most appalling spy machine ever

I'd like to make it a point to all the younger users of internet to please cooperate with your parents in protecting your private lives from cyber criminals. They can take the identity of anyone in your family and commit terrible crimes under their name, wipe all the cash out of your parents' bank account, and much more terrible stuffs! Innocent people have spent years in jail for crimes they know nothing of. Let us not take this for granted, and let us not allow the malicious individuals to benefit from our lives.
