Myspace Underage User Problems

In my job, i have come upon an underage user on MySpace.

I have reported it to MySpace.

They have told me that the user can not be proven to be underage. I asked them what else they need.

I have given the company enough details about the child.

Myspace have added that the child is not actually underage as their profile does not say that they are underage.

Their charter says that underage users are not accepted.

Is there a way i can get them to take me seriously? I have sent a few emails to a few diffierent contacts at MySpace, but still no luck.

If not, does anybody know of a very strong and vocal community group / or government agency that has clout.

Thanks for the info, I think I can help. (Everyone else, Jupiter is referring to MySpace's "hotline" for educators to report underage users.)

Jupiter, please send an email to my attention at admin@connectsafely.org and include the student's profile URL (or just the original email to MySpace w/ a brief note) and I'll forward it to our contact at MySpace. I'll let you know what they say.

Thanks,
Maureen

yes i have - daugher won't tell mom her account password, or the email that she used to construct the account. The point is MySpace have a url link for teachers to report this kind of stuff, but MySpace won't actually follow their own rules.

Have you talked to the student's parents?

I am a teacher at their school. Contact between the school and the student have failed to conclude the problem.

The student could be considered high risk in terms of cognitive devlopment and maturity.
